TERMS AT IMT - to all my classmates with love

First term was an executive summary of painful GD sessions, non stop introductions, more so to the mosquitoes and insects of the badminton court .Getting up for eight thirty classes and for most of us, the first introduction to CAM, with a gifted teacher, whose gift to most of us, I can safely say was a B minus. The only thing I learnt was how to decode the language of the Sir, to English, but alas, I got the same gift as the rest of the multitude.

Second term, was a flurry of mathematical based subjects, of which, I genuinely know very little. Specially OR, where I seriously learnt how to cheat, with the help of the nicest partners on my opposite desks. Could not draw any transportation diagram, and all the transportation I wanted to do, was of mine outside the hall.

Third term, Passions, was on our mind and in our hearts, couldn’t think of anything else .And when we were finished with it, we got up like Rip van vinkles and suddenly realized the next day, was an exam. LOAB, oh my god, if people had legal problems, why couldn’t they ask our law teacher to resolve them.. Why green horns like us? Frequent trips outside the class were made by classmates, who had created “help desks” with font sizes of one or two.
For the rest of us, we spent a night each in the computer lab, half of which was spent in the struggle of knowing the course, and the other half in getting the material. At, the crack of dawn, wed tow our cracked bodies to sleep.

Term four, all of us came back, carrying the excessive weight of summer training, those of us in FMCG companies, brought along sun tanned bodies that had been baked by our respective locations. Sorry to say, can’t recall any of the subjects, except of course product management, where there was lack of product to manage. Our teachers entire life’s worth of knowledge was stored in the form of projection slides in a VIP suitcase, that many of us, at all points of time wanted to throw down the yamuna .Though he tried to create slides with all colours of the rainbow, that many of us thought were actually made by his grandchildren, as a salutation to their grand fathers utter genius.

Fifth term, desperate attempts started to place ourselves and it was naturally tough to grow a reading habit, that had never been incepted in my case .Made fickle friends with Economic times, Business worlds and other journals, that were soon to be dumped after our Group discussions .These were, my only temporary friendships in IMT .Struggled to fit in macro figures in our micro brains .And left it all, after we had to juggle rural marketing classes, ppts and gyan, with one hand.

Sixth term, brought with it, retailing, where i am sure we were sub clerks working for
the PHD department , never before has any teacher shown so much interest in cataloguing. It brought with it parties, in the lawns, rooms, terraces, everywhere.
Desperate attempts to snatch time with those we loved, visions of how we first entered IMT, the nocturnal trips to the canteen , the nervousness before presentations, and the company of friends , who were always there , just a shout away …

The folder on my computer still says terms at IMT, the terms that flew by, and it will always stay there, as a mark of my love for the institute, and the life it has gifted me.

Marketing ka Halwa

Har admi marketing ka halwa bana ke dusre ke halak mein dale ja raha hae … Bura haal hae… Marketing is certainly not what it wanted to be, today if you measure marketing on its own brand prism, it would indeed lie defeated on all counts. Every 1 person enterprise has a marketing budget these days, translated as money spent on consumer nuisance and harassment. As if it’s not boring enough to be serenaded by Irfan’s dull as ditch water middle aged act every few minutes on TV, courtesy Vodafone, we have to bear inane ads linking things like soap with Vishwas and Bharosa. What the hell has bharosa got to do with a standard consumer durable like soap?? Is the emotional pull even required?? I am quite happy if my soap smells good .. and thank god for that. Does a consumer really buy more if an Aggarbatti promises to invoke god? Or if a Galaxy tab can help sketch some man with a tap running on his head? Does it all really account to more sales or just more NOISE? Leave apart the insaneness of

an equal balance

im the new sms, im the unplucked rose, im the rush of adrenalin, im that drop of prose, im the bride of desire, im the unbridled fire, im the liberal oxygen, im the favourite season, im that love you never saw, far away when i raised the sos, the smoke which disappeared, leaving its burnt hut splinterless, im not the ship you ride in high tide, but im an equal balance if you believe in the divide.

Work from home
